As expected, trainer Gai Waterhouse is set to be offered a great chance of successfully defending her maiden Melbourne Cup crown via Fiorente in 2013; including talented runner The Offer in nominations.

Beginning his racing career under the guidance of leading Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien before transferring to the care of Waterhouse at the conclusion of 2012, The Offer claimed early favouritism at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Race That Stops a Nation on the back of an impressive autumn campaign, which delivered three black type victories back-to-back including the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) last time out on April 19th.

All corners of the globe are poised to be represented in the Melbourne Cup 2014, with runners from Britain, Greater Europe and Asia all included in nominations, including Japanese pair Admire Rakti and Bande.

Securing one race win and four minor places from just 11 competitive starts so far, Admire Rakti has returned to racing in great form this year, finishing second in the Group 2 Hanshin Daishoten Stakes (2614m) most notably on March 23rd.

Partnered by leading Australian jockey Craig Williams in two featured Group 1 races at the conclusion of 2013, the Heart’s Cry entire has been confirmed to be partnered by Hong Kong Premiership-winning jockey Zac Purton in the 2014 Melbourne Cup.

Joining The Offer on the top line of early favouritism for the 2014 Melbourne Cup upon first being touted for a trip to Australia this spring, Bande charged home to win the Listed Sapporo Nikkei by more than five lengths last time out on August 10th and is poised to arrive in quarantine in prime condition.

Renowned owner Lloyd Williams, who most recently took out the Melbourne Cup in 2012 with Green Moon, has included 12 runners in 2014 Melbourne Cup nominations.
