46 Second Declarations – 2012 Melbourne Cup

October 29th, 2012

The second declarations have been released for the 2012 Melbourne Cup, which is due to run on Tuesday November 6, 2012.

46 horses have accepted for this stage of acceptances, including Americain.

Americain has won 11 of his 33 race starts and has earned close to $6 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The seven-year-old finished fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup last start and appears in form ahead of his 2012 Melbourne Cup run.

Americain is no stranger to Melbourne Cup victory, winning the 2010 edition of the race before placing a gallant fourth in last year’s event.

The Dynaformer entire will be third-up in the 2012 Melbourne Cup and peaking in his spring preparation.

Also included in the 2012 Melbourne Cup second acceptances is Lights Of Heaven.

Lights Of Heaven has won six of her 18 race starts and has earned more than $1.19 million in prize money.

The Zabeel mare placed third in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup last start behind Dunaden and Alcopop and will be attempting the 3,200 metre distance for the first time.

Lights Of Heaven won the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup and Group 2 Brisbane Cup in Queensland earlier this year.

Exceptionally, Dunaden and Maluckyday are also included in the 2012 Melbourne Cup second declarations.
